Our concern is to make disciples in a manner in which we were called to do so by the great commission found in Matthew 28:18-20 KJV. 18 And Jesus came to them and spake unto them, saying, All authority hath been given unto me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: 20 teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.
To that end, prior to membership, we offer a class called Connection Course. This class will allow people to discover how they can be connected to Christ and His Body (the church) for life.
1.) Because of the deep connection between Baptism and Church membership, Connection Course is taken prior to baptism.
Note: Christians coming from another Southern Baptist church on a letter, will take Connection Course prior to membership. Christians coming from another denomination will take Connection Course prior to their fellowhip baptism.
2.) The course is four weeks and meets every Sunday Evening from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. (Note: pending church services are held)
Note: A sign up sheet is located in the vestibule of the church for you to sign up for the class.
Upon completion of the course, we have a “Birthday Party” for all new believers on the first Sunday of every Quarter of our fiscal year. (December / March / June / September). The entire Sunday morning service is set aside for Baptisms and a celebration of new life. It goes in this manner…
a.) From 9:30 to 10:00 a.m is Sunday School and UpStreet. From 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. the Birthday Party begins with refreshments and a celebration with family and friends.
b.) We then proceed upstairs to the worship service where we sing, have a brief talk on the meaning of baptism and baptize the candidates.
c.) After our time of worship, the new members will be presented to the Body by their deacon and given a batismal certificate as well as their Connection Course diploma.
d.) New Members will then observe the Lord’s Supper together and we dismiss in song.
